Hockey Essay In Urdu Information: Hockey, a national sport of Pakistan owes its legacy to pre-partition times. The Indian hockey team, against all odds, qualified in the Olympics held in Amsterdam in 1928 and won its first gold medal. Apart from the legendary Dhyan Chand, the first Olympic team also comprised of some outstanding Muslim players that included Khan and Ali. After Partition, Pakistan continued with the sport with the same passion. It joined the International Hockey Federation in 1948, and has since won many national and international field hockey competitions.
Hockey in Pakistan has also undergone a series of rough patches. Its worst moment came when, during the Olympics held in Munich in 1972, the Pakistan team was suspended for disorderly and unsporting behavior displayed by them during the medal distribution ceremony. They were banned from participating in future events, although, the ban was later revoked in 1974 but only after a formal apology was sent by the hierarchy of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, and after the thirteen players who had participated in the Olympic finals had served the ban for two years.

Since the 1980s the popularity that hockey enjoyed has plummeted drastically. Although efforts are being made to revive its past glory but it has not been able to regain the position it once enjoyed.
